Also the graphics look stunning. Story is being told by the letters, and the game feels great. If your interested in what the first 25 minutes of gameplay looks like check out this video it comes with no commentary. The game dynamics change soon after and add a new tool for the player. I only wish they had more save points cause I keep dyinghttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lswf4kvnlKw. boring and annoying at points.. A decent indie horror game with beautiful dark atmosphere and unique jumpscares. Puzzles are rather simple, though the graphics, the sound effects and the physics of the game are decent. The story is quite interesting and it is unveiled by reading notes on each level. The duration is also satisfying for an indie title. For me Lethe - Episode One is a gem for the indie horror games category, a must play for those into it.. This game is seperated among other bad horror games with it's quality.I can see this series expanding like Outlast and Amnesia, definitely worth your time.. Where is Episode 2??? Lol. This game is fantastic. Period. No jump scares needed here folks, and that is a very welcome surprise for a game like this.Over seven hours of gameplay, and I'm only at the very end puzzle/scary scene...Watch my livestream and watch my battle through lots of the puzzles and great level designs in this video..https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LLbiVozXNocLove it, love it, love it! These developers have created a gmae oozing with quality, a story that builds tension and suspense as you play the game further, and a truly horrifying monster that sounds like it came from the depths of below for sure! This is a true gem people... in what I'd call a masterpiece in the making. I can't wait for future episides of this, holy hell fire... YES!Is it worth your money? Not only a yes, but a HELL YES! Dim your lights, put your headsets on, and get ready for one helluva ride!My Scoring:VALUE: 35 out of 40 possible. Usually games need to provide more hours of gameplay then dollars on the price tag to score high here, but this game is exceptionally well done and gives a higher then normal value for this type of game.FUN: 28 out of 30 possible. This game is just a flat out joy to play with truly tense and scary moments waiting for you. ...Could your gruesome demise be around the next corner?CONTROLS & BUGS: 19 out of 20 possible. - Very solid controls with minor glitches seen in odd situations, but impacts the overall game very little.GRAPHICS & SOUND: 10 out 10 possible. Exceptionally done sound effects, music and cery crisp detailed graphics make this game truly stand out. Easy 10 out of 10 here!-----------------------------------------------------------TOTAL SCORE: 92 out of 100. Game like this don't get much better, much more cleverly designed, or coded with this much passion. This is one of my "rare" Steam "Must-Buy" recommendations!. Good game. Definatly not worth $16. Basically a shorter version of Amnesia. As an entire package Lethe - Episode 1 is a game that I imagine will sell rather poorly due to the influx of games that took ideas from Amnesia then proceded to essentially copy them badly. Whilst Lethe does take multiple ideas from Amnesia and other games like Bioshock it does so in such a way that creates its own identity and has a fantastic atmosphere and a reasonably engaging story. Graphically the environments and the small number of animations you have are splendidly done and the game runs exceptionally well. Likwise some of the notes you find along with what happens are genuinely haunting.Which leads me to the games biggest issue. The "monsters" in this game simply are not scary. Don't get me wrong one in particular is conceptually haunting, but there presentation in terms of character models and animations are terrible as are how they interact with the world. Simply cutting them out and having one visible briefly but not hunting you (required for story purposes) would have been far better as whilst the game built up an amazing atmosphere, the big bads cause a large amount of effort to dissipate as soon as they show up.The game is also not complete per se, in that it is clearly set up for episode 2. An episode which very possibly will not happen given how poorly this game has thus far sold.Would I recommend this game? Yes. Even with the above fairly noticable issues I think it is worth picking up for fans of the genre. If you are not a fan of the genre then this will do nothing to change your mind.. Sometimes the question you should ask is "Are the answers worth finding out?"That preface makes it sound like a negative review, but I assure you, it is not. The answers that lie in the story's wake are more of a diabolical nature. Sometimes it is better for these protagonists to stay home with a nice warm fireplace and appreciate what they have. All jokes aside, this was the best survival horror game I can recall in recent years. Couldn't get into Amnesia for whatever reason (will give it another shot in the future). If you are into this genre I know for a fact it will scratch your itch. Uncomfortable, unsettling, terrifying at times, and an all encompassing intriguing story. That's what pulls me in in the end. Support this game, and look out for the sequel, as I will be doing.
